Pitney Bowes was founded in the year 1920. The company has been active for almost 99 years now. The founders of the company were Arthur Pitney and Walter Bowes. One of the co-founders of the company had moved his operations to Stamford in the year 1917. In the year 1950, Pitney Bowes initiated an advertising campaign in national publications. During the year 1971, the company had introduced a new logo, which represented the intersection of paper-based and electronic communication as well. The company was valued at around $18 billion during the year 1998. In the year 2003, Pitney Bowes filed a lawsuit in Seattle’s King County Superior Court against Mark Browne and Howard Gray, who had founded the competing company Nexxpost in the year 2002, as well as six other former employees as well. In the year 2003, the company had raked in profits close to $500 million.
